Conference (8 – 10 November 2023)

The online lecture series Science Journalism in the Digital Age (SciCon 2.0) brought together leading experts and practitioners from all over the world to share and discuss their knowledge on how to manage structural change in journalism. SciCon aims to use this wealth of international experience to develop ideas for future-proofing and promoting (science) journalism in Germany.

The SciCon closing event scheduled for 8 – 10 November 2023 was designed to be a working conference involving 70 distinguished international participants. In a conversation with experts from science, journalism, civil society, business and politics, the aim of the conference was to explore concrete steps for action in Germany based on the evidence and best practice examples gathered during the SciCon lecture series. The conference brought together the various sectors that could initiate and implement such steps. At the same time, we enhanced this debate with the best possible international expertise on successfully structuring the transformation process in (science) journalism. Many specialists who have taken part in the online lecture series participated in Berlin (see our Knowledge Reservoir for more information about the online lecture series).
